Tonya Fitzgerald

Academic Tutor

Tonya Fitzgerald, an educator with over 25 years of dedicated experience and degrees in Professional Teaching, Early Literacy, and as a K-12 Reading Specialist, brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Tonya's teaching career spans from preschool to eighth grade and across all subjects, including math, science, and social studies, where she consistently prioritized holistic student well-being and employed an array of strategies to captivate learners. Most recently, she taught third and fifth grades at Good Hope Country Day School here on St. Croix. Before that, Tonya served as a Literacy Specialist in Maine, offering support to students and providing guidance to fellow educators. Beyond the classroom, she has contributed to curriculum development, mentored teachers, and spearheaded initiatives such as Family Literacy Nights, Reading Therapy Dogs, Yoga 4 Classrooms, and the Reebok before school fitness program (BOKS). Tonya adores her life in St. Croix, where she resides with her husband and two sons, and is excited about the next chapter in her educational endeavors.
